Key Benefits Of Transmission Change-Out
- Reduce cost
- Reduce downtime
- Improve equipment reliability and lifespan
- Increase efficiency and productivity
- Improve equipment health, safety and compliance
- Enhance customer satisfaction
Fit into appropriate PPE. Hard hat, safety glasses, overall, safety boot, and other related PPE for adequate protection, This changes due to site policies, but not significantly
The packing brakes must be engaged and the rear wheels well chocked
The machine must be tagged-out and locked-out
Do the proper risk assessment.
Take 2 minutes to think about the job before commencing the task
Raise the bucket and lock it with the skip rope
Ensure that Transmission/ hydraulic oil is kept in a clean 1000F container and reused in accordance with the BCMEL kidney loop policy
Drain all transmission and differential oil from the tank and the housing into a suitable container. Drain transmission alone if it is transmission only
Absorbent pad available
Disconnect all related transmission hoses and position a suitable container under the break to container the leaking transmission oil.
Remove five bolts and the hard washers in order to remove shaft guard assembly from the frame assembly
Remove four bolts to separate the shaft from transmission and position it to allow removal.
Disconnect both half shafts if the differential is coming with the transmission. Remove the shaft with the removal and installation tool.
14. Disconnect hose assembly (19) from the magnetic screen housing
Disconnect hoses assembly (20) and (21).
Disconnects harness to the transmission and please it well from damage.
Attach Tool (B) to planetary transmission and transfer gear (2), attach to hoist, and remove 24 nuts and hard washers for transmission removal, weighing 2313 kg (5100 lb).
Remove 26 nuts (29) and washers, and 25 spacers (30) in order to remove transmission (2) and differential carrier assembly (23) from rear axle housing assembly if it is the diff.
Remove the transmission with the (hiab) lifting equipment
Separate the differential from transmission and fix new diff on the transmission if the fault is from the differential tight mounting bolts to a torque of (317 ± 44 lb. ft.).
Clean the axle housing and around, inspect for creaks and damage studs.
Install transmission and differential assembly using lifting equipment, hoist, and mounting bolts. Weight 3175 kg. Secure installation with 317 ± 44 lb. ft. torque.
Connect hoses assembly to the transmission and the differential assembly, change all O-ring seals on the hoses.
Connect harness to the control solenoid and the speed sensor.
Connect the main shaft to the transmission transfer gear and tighten the bolts. Fix the shaft cover.
Connect the half shafts with the installation tool and fix the covers if it were removed.
Fill in transmission oil and differential oil.
Remove all lock out, do inspection, start machine and check all oil levels and check for leaks.
Commissioning of the transmission. Check all pressures and ensure that all specifications are within the OEM set targets.
Remove personal danger tags, wheel chocks and tidy up the area.
